WIK - Writing and Illustrating for Children annual Fall conference in Birmingham, Alabama with a portfolio showcase open to all attending member illustrators. (October annually - specific dates for 2011 TBA.) Click here to read details for the 2010 conference.

Springmingle - Our annual 'Spring' conference in Atlanta each February (specific dates for 2011 TBA). The portfolio showcase is open to all attending member illustrators. We also host a gallery show for our attending PAL tier members (traditionally published). All framed work must be from a currently available for purchase picture book. Illustrator's Day - Our annual day just for illustrators, featuring a portfolio review by visiting Art Directors, Publishers and working illustrators - as well as speakers throughout the day. (2011 date TBA.)

Annual Gallery Show - kick-off is Decatur's ArtWalk Opening night for the Decatur Arts Festival each Memorial Day Friday. The show runs for a week at the independent children's bookstore Little Shop of Stories.

Annual Illustration Contest - "PJ...." A new theme is announced each year and submissions are juried by Art Directors from top publishing houses. (2011 date TBA.) Click here to read details of the 2010 contest.

The Liz Conrad Scholarship Fund is awarded twice each year for free attendance and a free portfolio review to our WIK or Springmingle conference. Submissions usually open a few weeks before registration and are announced on the Southern Breeze message board.

Gallery Shows - special events. In 2009 our Annual Gallery Show was picked up by SouthArts and turned into "Storybook Look: Illustrations by Southern Artists." It toured the South for two years. In 2010 PAL-tier members showed their work for a month at the DeKalb County Decatur library.
